Oil giant Chevron is buying Anadarko Petroleum in a $33 billion deal. The combined company will become one of the largest players in the US shale business. It will also give Chevron a larger foothold in the Permian Basin, located in Texas and New Mexico. What’s so attractive about this region? Could we see more consolidation deals in the near future?
